Today I had “fika” with a friend & his Swedish buddy.
In Sweden, a “fika” or “to fika” is to sit down, take a break & relax in conversation over a cup of kafe (coffee) and some sweets/pastries. Or, it doesn’t necessarily have to be coffee, according to Timothy (the Swedish buddy), it is sitting down with anything edible and enjoying each others company. Twas very comfortable and homey—felt very different from sitting down for a cup of coffee back at Starbucks.
People seem to fika quite a lot here in Sweden. You should fika too.
When life throws you lemons, fika.
fika fika boom boom.
